The ACORN and the vote-suppression scandal

The new scandal that is going on right now is called ACORN. ACORN is a group that stands for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. There people that are trying to cheat by making “funny” names such as “Mickey Mouse” and use other peoples names and make fake votes. "ACORN, is under investigation by state and federal authorities for its voter registration drives" as mentioned in the Washington Times. This crisis is happening because of the bad times that the United States is going through. People are trying to make some money by cheating on the voting process. The people really want the right president to win and help them with this crisis that is going on right now that’s why they are doing what their doing to save their families."One of those voters, 19-year-old Freddie Johnson, told that he signed 73 voter registration forms over a five-month period." He didn't know what was going on so he just said yes to get his cigarettes and his cash because people need the money. Somehow people are trying to put a STOP to this ACORN before it grows even more.

Another thing that is going on is that the "Lone Star Project has detailed how Texas Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott uses his official office to market and carry out a phony “epidemic of voter fraud” initiative. Abbott has selectively harassed and prosecuted Democrats, nearly all minorities and senior citizens, for simply assisting elderly and disabled voters deliver sealed ballots to an elections office or postal facility" as mentioned in the Major Texas newspapers Blast Abbott. So now all the minors and the senior citizens are going to have to verify their information if they don't reply they will not count their votes in. The making if fake people is not the only reason that the government can take your right to vote the own people that does your application can sometimes mess up by putting the wrong information like your address street. If they decide to contact that person back and they dont respond they can take their right to vote. In 2000 "Florida found more than 65,000 ineligible and duplicate voters on Florida’s registration rolls" as mentioned in the ajc website. In that 65,000 people there were 600 people that were dead and had "voted" I don't know how they would vote if their dead but they did (haha). There are also criminals that want to vote "In Florida, felons can vote only after their rights have been restored through clemency. The newspaper found the state checks felons’ criminal histories and clemency status only after they register and had a backlog of 108,000 still to be reviewed" Not all people agree that those people that committed a crime should have the right to vote. “We have 100 percent convicted felons who are also sex offenders, so nobody should be eligible,” said Timothy Budz, center administrator."
