This article talks about the timeline of black agency that has been determined to a great extent in the last six centuries by the need to overcome man-made historical impediments, notably slavery, racism, and colonialism. It is a big deal that Obama is running for president because he will be the first black president.
This article relates to the Enlightment because by Obama running he's characterized by believing in the power of humans reasons in political way. Obama can help by giving better rights to common people.
